Threefold Brush - Druze Killer Machine

by Nuada Airgetlam » October 25th, 2015, 12:12 am

Began painting my new Ariadna army - bought all the minis I liked, I can't play yet, but I will have a painted army.

Began with grey Vallejo Surface Primer (aero), washed with diluted Game Color Black Wash and started glazing with diluted colors. So far so good, it's going pretty fast and neatly.

and here's the rest of the army, full 300 pts of non-sectorial Ariadna.

Wish me luck :jihad:

A quick airbrush pass with white and you would get even better shading for the color glazes. Black wash gives you contact shadows, white gives you main light (if from above, that's zenithal method).
If not worth saving, is it worth rewriting? What is more, was it worth writing?

Yep, familiar with that - I used to do black primer, zenithal white and then glaze on layers. Trying out a new technique now. Takes a lot fewer layers and gives more vivid colours. I'd rather not erase the was with airbrush, but maybe I will reinforce the colours and highlights with it on larger flatter top areas, like the thighs on the human forms here, for examples, or tops of the bare arms.

Yes, going with something mid to high level, instead of black and trying to cover it, will be faster and brighter. Quick pass with white should not hide the wash in tight zones, at worst make it grey there. Other option is do the grey and white first, then do the wash in more controlled fashion, leaving the white untouched in important zones.

Controlled fashion? What's that, a professional tool?

In the meantime, got myself the 112, a Scout Sniper and the Hardcase; plus the bootleg biker babe. Getting the new axe-variant Van Zant and the special weapons Grunt box, as well. Expect more updates and maybe some finished minis over the weekend already.

Ariadna still mostly in WIP, didn't have much time for my own miniatures. This one I'm doing for pure fun, so much freaking detail O_O

Haha. Then half a year goes by! I will show how the Druze turned out in the end. There is no basing done, as it's for sale, so someone might want it on a base appropriate for their own army.

Fairly "Basic" level, for tabletop gameplay.

Nice!

For your sale pics, you might want to paint the base a simple, solid color like black or gray.
