We were lucky enough at Dark Sphere (London, UK) to have Chris Birch from Modiphius give us a taster session.
I made notes whilst 6 players went through a scenario with Chris as the GM.
First thoughts - absolutely amazing!
The game was fluid and fun even with a relatively inexperienced group of role-players. The rules were pretty intuative, the stats made a lot of sense and the storytelling was exciting.
The mission was for a hastily thrown together band of miscreants (the pre-made characters in the starter rules) to find a box for their patron. An informant had located where the box was and the team was to locate it and return it un-opened.
Some gameplay was slow - 2 turns of tactical manuvering and trying to get environmental information.
Some was fast - a car chase
Some was epic - Dogwarrior jumping off a 4 storey building directly into combat and killing 3 gangsters
Some was ... stranger - Father Knight impaling a car with his sword to wound a gangster but not kill him
There was hacking, shooting, combat, surprise attacks - along with a good story and enough 'normal' bits to make it 'real' feeling.
I for one can't wait until the pdfs are ready. I want to jump into making NPCs, fill out my planned adventure and get some players around a table!
I hope that some others are as excited - I think it will be a great system
