The INFINITY forum has been very slow for weeks now. Its very hard to navigate and follow up on threads I posted on. I've almost given up on it. Is it the same for you?

Is the ITS 2016 out yet? I don't see anything other than what is included in the packs.

Were they using this/a CDN before for the forum pages? The image hosting has been different for some time already. Because the errors I got yesterday were CDN ones, and general slowness afterwards. Probably it will take some time to propagate, and based in other sites, every now and then someone will have random problems. Welcome to Cloud. Buzzwords.

Nope, ITS2016 isn't out yet. WE only know what's going to be in the packs. Missions for 2016 haven't been mentioned (any changes/revisions to the existing ones or new ones).

« A content delivery network or content distribution network (CDN) is a globally distributed network of proxy servers deployed in multiple data centers. The goal of a CDN is to serve content to end-users with high availability and high performance*. CDNs serve a large fraction of the Internet content today, including web objects (text, graphics and scripts), downloadable objects (media files, software, documents), applications (e-commerce, portals), live streaming media, on-demand streaming media, and social networks. »

*Maybe CB should change provider. Because right now it feels like I'm back with a 56K modem but I pay for high speed internet

The goal is making money by being in the middle. In some years, probably a leak will point to being a censor or spy system too... integrity seems to be only going down.

Sincerily, I don't know if the issues of some sites are "duh" moments, CDNs just masking them, until they reappear or you suffer CND related issues (from one problem to two plus distracting noise). I wouldn't be surprised if all comes down to running something with default configuration, instead of measuring how the system behaves then adjusting (been there, done that). I also tried loading the login page as HTTPS, it redirected to HTTP... the pages later load fine via HTTPS, why not the one with passwords? It seems it didn't like forum/index.php?/login/ but forum/login/. WTF.

Currently images seem to be hosted by CloudFront CDN and pages behind CloudFlare CDN. Those two are rather big. They should mean "quality". Or maybe not.

Edit: Going mad with the S dance. It seems to work if forced manually per page, but links quickly point to plain HTTP. *sigh*

And down again?

Edit: https works whenever it wants.

Edit 2: http slow, but loads at some point.

I love how this thread gets necroed every once a while. :P It shows a great backlog for all things CB released.

I like to think it's down because they accidentally released HSN3 and everyone's downloading it. Then I woke up.

No, the site is down because CB released hardcopy HSN3 and everyone's asking what's in it!

Well, Bostria was right saying that if they show something it'll be retyped on the internet 5 minutes later :v:

5 years later, they are back at it. Returns "503 Service Temporarily Unavailable". Must be the "Everone gets Longarms" revolt. That or in their rush for the first full weekend without regional lockdowns, they pulled a cord.

(Pretty threadomancer hat I got...)

Never left, always lurking. :ninja: We both replied a couple of months ago when poor Pacific wondered about what was going on.

Soooooo... CB forgot to pay the hosting or the software license, or in related way, the "images stop to work near month's end" of past times has became "all the system down" now. Or an IT classic: change things on Friday, so if it fails, work the weekend... unless boss does not figure, and it stays broken until Monday. :didactic:

What is weird is that this is the first, easy to check, place where I saw any talk/confirmation (and probably because I asked). Someone mentioned it 5 hours ago in Twitter, more than half a day since it went down. Internet is not what it used to be. :v:

Tried to find the message again... and noticed that when not accessed directly it goes under "Show additional replies, including those that may contain offensive content". If there were many replies instead of just 2+1, I could understand hidding some (starting with the reply to a reply)... so it must be offensive for the "algorithm". :cop:

Reddit noticed at last.

And once again "503 Service Temporarily Unavailable". Something about mid-month? We will see for how long this time.

Up and down, up and down. :toot: Like a clock.

If the new plastic does not mean lower prices, they could at least invest the extra profit in better IT handling.

Good news: this time it lasted around ~1.5 months, not ~1. Bad news: weekend again.

They fixed the forum next work day (13th), but since Friday (15th) the Army is saying 503. It is spreading.

Figured it out: https://army.infinitythegame.com/ gives 503 instead of redirecting to https://infinitytheuniverse.com/army/ Similar for the wiki, http://wiki.infinitythegame.com/ not working (anymore?) with server not found, use https://infinitythewiki.com/ instead. Messy IT.
