OK, what's the news that has killed the official forums?

by Section9 » September 23rd, 2015, 7:11 pm

Official forums have been having serious issues for me for the last couple days, what gives?

Hahaha, I suspect it's the Hunzakut, Mobile Brigada, and Nisse previews.

Though, the forums, as a whole, have been super wonky for me for the past week.

Same here. I guess some problems with the server? Though Army5 works all right.
I'm not saying there should be a capital punishment for stupidity, but shouldn't we just take the warning labels off everything and let the problem deal with itself?

I was wondering this myself - keep getting a "500 Error."

The rest of the site seems fine, however.

It's not preview's fault. The issue started more than one day before the Hunzakut was even shown on facebook.

It's probably a bug in the software running the forum.

For the past few days (at least 4) the forums have been pretty slow for me, beyond my typical rural Canada internet speeds. Given that there's a thread about the number of people getting 500 errors, I'm suspicious of a bug outreach glitch causing poor connectivity (or whatever 500 errors are).

There's another forum?

Ohh you mean those nice un-moderated troll infested official forum too bad if this problem persists the trolls might starve to death for lack of people's disgust and misspent anger to feed on.

Accessing the forum using Tapatalk hasn't worked for me in at least a month, but I haven't worried too much given how unstable the damned thing seems most days.

Seems to have been stabilized now, we'll see if that continues.

So now the official forums are up (and apparently stable, at least so far) but Army5 has dropped dead instead - I get 502/Bad Gateway errors at every connection attempt.

Sigh. Whoever runs CB's web presence, they're not doing the greatest job recently...

Their website is hosted off site, with Dinahosting. If the servers are down because of a hardware failure, it's up to Dinahosting to fix it. And depending on their service level, even software failures could be Dinahosting's responsibility. And considering the size of CB, i'd say that's most likely.

Not only Dinahosting, they are also going with the Cloud™ for some resources. And they have been doing it in non transparent way (that's how you can see they do it) and changed a couple of times. Looks like poor planning.

Yeah, but at least most of those were self-inflicted DDOS attacks because of news.

This one wasn't.

I had problems with Army a few hours ago, now it ran with no issues.

As for Azra'il, yes, it got an AP HMG (so far in the QK variant only, but I guess it is soon to be corrected) instead of regular HMG. Costs 41pts now, exactly as much as the Feuerbach.

They leak new stuff on twitter and myfacespace nowadays before the forums - which does reduce the ctrl+F5 traffic request a little.

I only go there is someone links me directly to a thread and not at all if that link starts with a comment like.

"You won't believe what person A said and now troll X,Y and Z is saying this"

Honestly the place is frustrating as hell. If you want rule clarifications better to just ask IJW through one of the many facebook groups assuming the Wiki isn't helpful first.

I'd wager it's more from the unveiling of the Guija redesign.
