Time to get more comfortable in the DS forum
After a long break from fielding knights I finally played a game with them. Standard 300 pts. YAMS battle. My army:

I got the initiative, and tried to remove Lasiq sniper with one of my own. Bad luck - I missed two shots, took one in return and lost a TO sniper. Teutons moved next, it took them two Spitfire bursts to wound the sniper, but one Lasiq rifleman took the Spitfire down in return. I tried to attack the rifleman with Sierra, but he got lucky again. Magister tried to dicover lurking Fiday, but failed to it. With my last order I moved my Lt. closer to the Civvie.
My opponent went on to reviving fallen sniper with the aid of his Nasmat, moved Ghazi closer to my lines, managed to disable one of the Teutons with E/Marat and then shot a Marker near my Lt.
In my second round my Magister managed to took down Fiday's Impersonation down one level, tried again, and then missed him with shotgun fire when Fiday throw down the smoke. I resorted to CC, killed the Hassassin, but Magister got a wound in return. I moved him forward and after spending both Panzerfoust shots managed to wound Lasiq rifleman.
In next turn enemy doctor healed wounded Lasiq and killed my Lt. with his sniper.
Starting in LoL I tried to inflict at least a few casualties. All I managed to do was wound a Ghazi with Auxbot's HFT. Magister got himself killed by the damned Lasiq... after that I had virtually no forces to continue, no chances of fulfilling my objectives, so I called it a game.
Lessons learned:
- Buy a new set of dice. Seriously, 2/3 of my casualties went down because of their abysmal shooting, even when the odds were on my side.
- Knights are less tough than they seem when facing a sniper. Should I close with the Spitfire out of rifleman's LoF I could take them down one by one without sacrificing the knight.
- Make use of proper models for the job. My Lt. could survive, should I send someone else to get the Civvie. Order Sergeant's aren't hackable and cost less points.
- Always take an Engineer. E/M and offensive hacking gets more popular around here, and I need a remedy.
- Should points permit take DeFersen. Sometimes counterhacking will be the only way to take down a hidden hacker.
- With offensive army single distraction (TO/AD) can be too little. I need to tra and fit both into the list, to dismantle entrenched defenders.
- And finally REMEMBER THE BASICS! - get in range, get cover, deny cover. I might to get through my first turn without so many casualties should I stick to this instead of getting overconfident with my knights and remote.
Oh well. Hopefully next time will be better.
