CB has released a official announcement with regards to the new base-size of the Kum Bikers 55mm bases.
This info was released by Koni:
Hi everyone!

With the new Kum, there is a big renovation of the bases. You have noticed that those new Kum carries a new 55mm base. It means that there is a new base size in our catalogue. Let's see what changes:

-Ghost-Servant miniatures (like Palbots): 25mm Base

-"Human" miniatures (the standard ones): 25mm Base

-Basic Remotes (like Yaokong or Dronbots): 40mm Base

-Special Remotes: Changes to 55mm Base
Yaoxie
Yáopú Pangguling
Every motorbike (Kum, Pentesilea, Aragotos, Asuka Kisaragi)
Traktor Mul
Mulebots
Armbots: Bulleteer
Armbots: Peacemaker
Kameel
Salyut Zonds
Tsyklon Sputnik
Lunokhod Sputnik
Probots
***Obsidon Medchanoid keeps their 40mm base***

-Big "Human" miniatures (like Ayax or Tarik): 40mm Base

-TAG: keeps their 40mm Base:
Geckos
Sphinx

-TAG: Everyone (except the mentioned before) change to 55mm base.

The new 55mm bases will be included in the references that needs that size of base from May on.

Also, with the April news, we'll launch 3 new products:

-Blister with 20 x 25mm Bases 3.50€
-Blister with 5 x 40mm Bases 3.50€
-Blister with 5 x 55mm Bases 3.50€

Related to ITS rules:

Quote

During this season it won’t be mandatory to update the bases of the miniatures. We will keep the rules on the ITS documentation: miniatures have to be based with the base provided with the figure or with one of the same size.

It’s important to remember that both 40 mm and 55 mm bases can go through Wide Gate access markers.

Any doubt you have, please, tell us.

Regards!

What a crock!

Not looking forward to rebasing my spindly legged tsyklons and Salyut! Unless I just get 55mm MDF circles to stick them on-not cool :(

Bullshit!

Bet they're not planning on sending out some free bases, are they?

Official Partners from CB already invested to fill up this new market. Customeeple and Warsenal have created base-extenders, some form of ring to fit around the base, for those who put great amounts of time in scenic bases.
They also produce some MDF 55mm bases.
3,50euros for 5 x 55mm bases are available through CB themselves as well, so this is a solvable change.

Now, this is probably not exactly what everybody wants, but I for one am glad Infinity finally has some rules about base-consistency. :D

A clarification that didn't cost me money/more work on projects I considered finished would be nice. :(

So I take it models will start coming with the new bases then too? And if you end up with an old base can you request a free replacement from CB as it *should* have come with the new size base?

Good question. I'll ask them in the thread.

What u-turn, CB always kept old models with old bases.

Let's hope the 55mm ones become avaliable from other sources, because the 25 and 40 are "padded" like the dice. Checking shop... 40mm 1.90, 25mm 1.15*2 (bags of 10) 2.30.

And their server(s) is sloooooooooooow today. They need to review what is going on, too many issues with the DB, and probably in general. Days ago it was fast front page but forums showing IPS unable to connect to SQL... today everything buggy, even the shop (different IP, maybe same hardware).

So wait, it says every TAG that isn't Sphinx or Gecko gets a 55mm Base. Does that include Margarita Guards?

Nope, later statement said the Maghariba Guard was another one.. One of the reasons the announcement shows some serious flaws.

Meh,

I don't care I'll run whatever I have right now their just toy soldiers and far too many people take this shit way too seriously.

I might fix em later or just use some 3rd party products to make them the right size its not the end of the world.

I'm going to leave all of my remotes and TAGs on the bases they came with. If it causes issues at ITS tournaments, then I'll either stop going to them, or I won't field those miniatures. I'm not going to rebase all of my TAGs and Remotes.

That's pretty much how I'd feel about it.

Except I was going to be updating my models with new, scenic bases anyway. Might as well wait a bit for 55mm's to come out!

Palanka's official feedback:
I'm sorry. It looks like I wasn't clear enough yesterday. I'll try again.

The information in this thread is only about what the products will contain, it doesn't have anything to do with the game or ITS rules...

... because we will release all the detailed information about the interaction of this new bases and the game in the following days, once the PDFs are ready.

As far as this thread goes, the important thing is that we won't make the change of bases mandatory. Ever.

Maybe it is the 1.5 or 1.75 rules or whatever they are up too.

Clarifications/rewritten core rules or somesuch via download but no hard cover book then.

Yeah, that was a painful error. I was actually speechless about it!
And I agree with Hero of Man, they should work on their public relations a little bit more. :P Not everyone appreciates the Spanish 'mañana, mañana' attitude.

Well I have a BNIB Scarface sitting on my desk that I'm not sure what to do with. I might try source a 55mm MDF base for him - I don't need 2 extra.

If I had anything that was already based I would just use a thin 55mm MDF base or similar underneath the existing base - rebasing a painted model is a PITA and most of my bases are either resin or self built with plasticard details

Edit: Actually I planned to get the Kameel minis in the future, likely they will not come with 55mm bases so might as well stock up. Bit annoying

I'm in the same situation here. They are on my to buy list for next month, but then I'd be taking a huge risk that I will just get one of the boxes of the shelves that has been there for months.
And CB said they won't send us the 55mm bases through the complaint forms. Which I don't really understand. Since the announcement was released a 40mm base should be considered a mispack.

In the offical forums it´s said that nobody has to rebase his stuff!

But there WILL be a point where base sizes start to matter. So might as well change it now.

I really don't understand people's constant comments about the correct base for that model being included being a mis-pack. Yeah one day they may force a rebase, you know like they did with the old gaki/preta when the new ones came out, but until then the base in the box is the correct base. Technically upgrading a model with a 55mm base is against the rules. Now I know a lot of us will do it during the "grey" era, but it is against the rules.

CB said they are going to release every special REM box with 55mm base from now on. But a lot of special REM boxes with 40mm bases are already distributed world wide. Let's say, I'm going to order a Kameel in 6/7 months from now. I can be unlucky that the distributor still has some old box on the shelves: same product code, same product packaging, same name. BUT, with the wrong bases. It is NOT the package that I order, since I want the 55mm, since those are the product that CB sells for that price and that product code.
I am one of the persons that is totally willing to rebase all the units that are needed. But do not fancy the idea that I'd have to order extra '55mm bases' since those are the right ones since the announcement. I like to have all my armies with base-consistency. 40mm? base extensions? 55mm? Whatever the solution, I want to have consistency.

And since there is a official announcement saying the product will come with 55mm in the future, ordering one in the future and receiving one that carries a 40mm in the box is NOT what you order => hence mispack. ;) It is an understandable fault, but CB still doesn't deliver the product you order. USA will have this problem probably more so than EU, since there is only one distributor on that continent; Alliance. They have to store all those packs and from there every LGS in USA has probably one or more box on the shelves, ready to be ordered.

I know that in the future, one day, some day, a certain base size for a certain unit will become a standard. It has to be for ITS/competitive play. I'm not willing to go through rebasing again because I received multiple wrong bases during the 'grey era'.

Product code reuse is another CB trait. Someday they will learn the hard way, when a distributor drops them for the mess.

I'm not going to re-base anything, ever. If it gets enforced by CB, or my community gets fussy about it then i'll pick up the rings from Warsenal. Until then they are fine, and Dragon Forge doesn't do 55mm anyway, so i'm not dealing with base swaps and inconsistent base design.

It's not a huge issue, but it is a rough around the edges decisions and announcement. From the very beginning someone should have planned ahead what base sizes they wanted to use and stick to it. Base extenders were always a terrible idea, and perhaps they let the sculptors creativity dictate too much. But i'm sure they will grow and learn from it.

I was literally about to order bases, when I saw this announcement.

I'm going to get some MAS bases anyway, for 25mm. I'm sure they will follow up with 55mm eventually.

I want a running TAG. :panic: No need of cartwheels, just obviously running.

But i'm sure they will grow and learn from it.
