Drop Ships

I'm curious to know if anyone out there is using models for their drop ships, or just using the print off. If so, what are you using?

I took the measurements of the drop ship (after putting a silly printout together...don't try it, the tabs are awful), then built them with lego. They're all at the LGS, or I'd take a picture to show you. :)

No worries - I got my hands on a free Tau Devilfish, that with a bit of work, might make for a cool Combined drop ship. I'm also playing around with the idea of buying some combined models, and making some combined civvies just for kicks (like a Morat reporter based off of a zerat model, as well just some generic ones). :D

alrighty... so at the risk of sounding completely ignorant.. i can't seem to find a dropship template anywhere. Does anyone know where I can find one? I know there is one in the book (i lent it out to a friend.. so I don't have the core book handy), but does someone have the rough dimensions?

Is the one from the CB website.

It's a basic box.

Ahhhh.. thanks man. Okay.. that kinda looked like cargo - not much like a drop ship. Thanks dude.

That is actually a cargo drop pod, the actual ship is much bigger (you can see it here on Topo's website)
Also, while the official dropship template is the AirWagon, the fluffy canon dropship is the Chickenhawk (also from Topo's site)

Ahhh - sweet. That's what I was looking for - I just wanted to compare it to the vehicle models I'm using.. again, it's not a huge deal (as this really all is just fluff and cinematics), but we have a house rule where mechanized deployment can put down a vehicle to use as cover - and someone suggested their AT-AT model (it's 35 cm long and ridiculously tall), when really, we are talking about an APC or something similar. :D

1/48 MV22 Osprey

1/20 Pkf.85 Falke

1/35 Lunadiver Stingray

Those suits are about 55-60mm tall.

1/20 Hummel Aufklarungs Pkf.50

All those are in the 15"+ size, nice and big for Infinity.

Not sure how big this one is going to be, but I will buy at least one:

And of course you gotta have some miscellaneous support stuff around.

Just this second been considering that one myself.

Looking at the grey base coated version you get in the box, it may have too much retro detail? Rivets etc?

Then again if its cheap enough, it will do the job well.

There are some cool examples in this thread:

I bought the Hasegawa Falke, just finished painting it and have to say it fits in pretty well with the Infinity style.

I picked up the cars from these guys, they are a bit small. Nice details though.

Something new I hadn't seen to today.

Jada Toys, Inc. Halo: Hornet Combat Edition

The models are clearly out of scale the vehicle itself however will work easily.

One of my fellow Australian players has this to say.

I bought this at Myer and is part of the Halo die cast series. Now the scale is only slightly larger than the miniature range but not by much and I think it fits in perfectly. I intend to air brush this once I have cleaned it up a bit. Now onto quality it, cost $60 (can buy it off ebay though for less than $50 delivered) however the quality is top notch, it is mainly metal, with only a few joins that I will have to fix up ( the grey parts are the only plastic parts). I might even add some plastic card to the canopy to make it more interesting as well. If you want one I can highly recommend it.

NOTE: Prices are in Australian Dollar.

I've had that one since the mid-late 90s or so.

It saw a bit of use as a prop in my ongoing cyberpunk rpg campaigns. Along with a few other aerodyne vehicles by GZG and others.

The Dragonfly has apparently re-entered production. I was super excited until I saw the cost + shipping to the US; too rich for my blood. Seems to incrementally climb in price every few days also. Still, always wanted this thing, but not THAT much.

Looks like this has been on Antenocitis' "to do" list for a while - sure hope we get to see it eventually!

Can't find it but I had a sneak peak at a up and coming CNC Terrain drop ship and it blows most of the competeion out of the water.

Looks a little like the ZEPHYR PENGUIN but much much better and more Infinity-esq.

I would hazard a guess it should be up in the store by the end of March.

But CNC is well known for dragging their asses and not putting things up for sale in an expedient manner. -_-
