Calling all writers: this is your chance to make Infinity history and win an Azure Dragon dropship. Antenociti’s Workshop and Data Sphere Online Magazine invites you to take part in the “You Write the Lore Contest.”

Did you know that Antenociti’s creation, the PanO corporation known as “Phoenix Industries,” was accepted as official Infinity lore by Gutier Lusquiños (aka Interruptor), Corvus Belli’s man behind the Infinity story? A while back, in our preview of the Azure Dragon dropship from AW, Antenociti told us his dropship’s background would get the same attention to detail, but in contest form. Now is your chance for Infinity immortality by writing the background for the Azure Dragon’s parent company. Though we still don’t have a date for the release of the Azure Dragon, or any of the other dropships, it’s time for us at Data Sphere to start taking submissions for our first Infinity lore contest.

Contest Instructions

• Write a 250 word background on the Yu Jing corporation making the Azure Dragon dropship using any material from the existing Infinity universe as necessary
• Post your background in the “You Write the Lore Contest” thread on the Data Sphere forum before July 31, 2014
• Three finalists will be chosen by Data Sphere judges and Antenociti
• Interruptor from Corvus Belli will chose the winner from the three finalists
• The winner will receive an Azure Dragon dropship by Antenociti’s Workshop!

• Submissions violating others’ intellectual property, aside from Corvus Belli material, will be disqualified.
• Material submitted in this contest will be used by Corvus Belli at its discretion, including changes to the text. Applicants may not make legal claim to ownership and agree to transfer copyright for their work to Corvus Belli upon submission.
• Data Sphere contributors will be able to participate in the contest (some of us are writers after all), but any DS participants will not act as a judge—and we don’t like each other enough to vote for each other anyway.

Phoenix Industries
The CEO is the reclusive Hugh Navarre. Very little is known of him beyond these three facts. Hugh traces his bloodline back to the Count of Champagne (1093 – 1125 AD), a Knight Templar (rumored to be the ninth unnamed knight that helped found the order in 1119 AD). He has a well-honed dislike of the Order of the Hospital, exceeded only by his absolute loathing of all things Haqqislam. Finally, his stewardship of Phoenix Industries has seen their fortunes rise at an unprecedented rate.

What is rumored is far more titillating though. While many are unfit for reprinting here, those that follow are the ones that have gained the most ‘official’ acceptance. The actual source of the recent success of Phoenix Industries is due in no small measure to the ancient and vast Knight Templar fortune that escaped confiscation between the years 1307 – 1312 AD. Hugh has reestablished the Order of the Dragon, a covert force with the sole directive to act against Haqqislam interests wherever and whenever possible. Phoenix Industries has strong ties to the Nomad Nation and continues development of an AI with the purpose of destroying Aleph.

Officially, the PR department of Phoenix Industries dismisses these rumors as little more than proof of just how worried the competition is about their success. “Phoenix Industries is dedicated to ensuring peace and prosperity through strength of arms against those forces that seek to destroy our very way of life.”

The Changhe-Mitsubishi ZY-24 “Azure Dragon” (Qīnglóng, Simplified: 青龙, Traditional: 青龍) is the 3rd dropship from the partnership chosen by the Invincible Army for frontline use.

There have been no small number of Azure Dragons seen flying back to bases on Paradiso with more holes than wing surface, getting patched up, and flying back out later that same day. “Changhe-Mitsu Tiě chǎng,” the “Changhe-Mitsu Iron Works,” has entered the slang of the Human Sphere, just as 'built Boeing tough' or 'Grumman Iron Works' were common phrases in the 20th Century.

Powered by a pair of Shenyang-Yutani WH56 microfusion-heated turbofans, the Azure Dragon relies on 4 pivoting thrusters for stability in the hover. The thrusters are little more than swiveling boxes to direct the jet exhaust, so unless the swivel mechanism itself locks up from damage, the two wingtip thrusters are unable to cause a crash.

Qǐzhòngjī Aeronautical is currently the most powerful aeronautical company in the Yu Jing Empire. It has the exclusive rights to producing all Yu Jing military air and space craft, has dozens of large factories, and each one of its facilities is guarded by a detachment from the Imperial Secret Service. It’s most commonly produced unit is the Azure Dragon, which was also their first ever product and most successful.

Qǐzhòngjī Aeronautical initially started out as two engineers with a lot of designs but no money to do anything, thus the company never lifted off the ground. Luck changed for the two of them when approached by agents of the recently formed ISS, who were in need of drop ships to quickly end a sudden stalemate that had occurred in their battles with the Triad. As it turned out, despite their initial success, the Triads had gained the upper hand as they had infiltrated every manufacturing plant in the empire and were able to track every drop ship used by the ISS in real time. The two engineers suddenly found themselves with highly secure factories, large workforces and bankrolling from the ISS. Quickly, they began producing the Azure Dragon, which within a few weeks of their initial deployment the broke the stalemate and as history knows, the Triads were dismantled.

Following the removal of the Triads, the Emperor forced the ISS to allow Qǐzhòngjī Aeronautical to produce for all of Yu Jing’s military forces, causing them overnight to become the juggernauts they are today.

Xīngjì Chuàngxīn is not like every other engineering firm in the Sphere. It has a formidable Research and Development department, but there are no scientists. It has no manufacturing division, but rather hundreds of subsidiaries, both real and imagined. In truth there are only 2 functions to Xīngjì Chuàngxīn, hostile acquisition and judicial interdiction.

The corporation operates the finest paramilitary espionage money can buy. Agents infiltrate foreign competitors and identify projects with potential. They gather the most innovative designs they can find and destroy any evidence of its existence from their victims. Shortly after, the legal teams copyright the materials and distribute them to the many child companies for mass production. Then, if the original developers make any claim to the technology, they are shattered in O-12 courts and countersued into oblivion. This is no secret to the industry at large. Xīngjì Chuàngxīn is shielded by the Yu Jing empire, who provides it with security personnel, military hardware, and political capital.

The Azure Dragon is, without a doubt, the corporation's greatest success. The vehicle is ubiquitous across all Yu Jing forces. It's used by proxy armies in covert warzones and open rebellions. The design is elegant in its simplicity. The Azure Dragon is cheap to produce and requires only basic manufacturing facilities. It's easy to maintain and reliable in adverse conditions. The modular chassis allows for quick upgrades to weapons systems, engines, or navigation. Simply put, the Azure Dragon is the ideal dropship for the practical commander.

In ten years all those business were merging slowly into Ian enterprises as it is today, with all of the contracts they got from the government, from utility vehicles to safety equipment for the public intra system transport, giving them an absolute edge on the competition.

Yes, as the retaliatory raid from Nomad forces their I+D labs suffered after O 12 turned down the charges of misappropriation of strategic equipment being transported in one orbital for lack of evidence.

And the fact that six months later they developed the Azure Dragon, passing all the thigh test of the Yu jing military.

The old CEO is now the owner of the Chow-Mo catering business. They attended the wedding banquet of a high ranking imperial official and are known as purveyors of the Imperial state celebrations.

The 6 Mountains Corporation traces it's foundation back to the legendary sword maker Isamu Wong. A traveller of many lands but a citizen of none, the master is said to have created the finest blades in a hundred generations. The history of Isamu Wong is shrouded in both myth and brand image, and today, story and fact seem irrevocably intertwined.

Whatever the truth, the current CEO, Jing Li, is a devotee to the legend. When he took control of the company, 87 years ago, it produced unreliable, fragile and inexpensive weaponry. Jing Li immediately brought a close to these practices, cancelling all contracts and shutting down production for 7 months. Límíng Enterprises is one of the first corporations who decided to transfer their headquarters from Chung Kuo into extraterrestrial space and set foot on the planet of YuTang. Being one of the few to offer work for highly educated engineers on the new worlds, they could choose from the brightest minds that left earth to settle the new Yu Jing controlled star system. Meanwhile securing itself large plots of land at a relatively low cost supported by government grants. When the Yu Jing capital was later also transferred to YuTang, this decision showed its true ingenuity. Since then they have established a stable and successful cooperation with the Party as a designer and constructer of top-notch military vehicles.

The management principles of Límíng Enterprises are based on Feng Shui lore which is often represented in their design and naming choices. “Combining the grandeur of traditions with the leading edge of technology!” is one of the iconic slogans used in a recent marketing campaign for the new light orbital lander class dropship.
The name of this new dropship design, the Azure Dragon, is based on a mythological beast whose depictions range from tomb art in the neolithic age to modern popular culture. The Azure Dragon is the heavenly creature associated with spring and the element of wood and thus, according to Feng Shui principles, is to be seen as a harbinger of expansion and growth for the Yu Jing troops in the race to claim the secrets of Paradiso.

Their development of a tesium composite that produced similar strength at a much lower content of that precious metal than traditional plating allowing them to develop a craft that was as invincible as the soldiers it was to carry.

The result is of course the “Azure Dragon” That iconic vessel that carries the forces of our great StateEmpire on to victory.
