My Infinity Terrain pieces

Brace yourselves,; I'll most probably get carried away and flood this thread with pictures...

So starting november last year, I began collecting an Infinity Haqqislam strike force, and of course, these fellows need some nice terrain to fight over...

So I started off by buying some lasercut buildings.

From Warmill a Happy Holidays booth to dream away after a day full of close quarters-stress

Without the container :

Two Micro Arts studios buildings :
The garage

The Guard house

From the leftovers, combined with a GWS 40K vehiclebit, some other plastic bits ’n pieces and a plastic cookie-jar, I constructed this bunker:

Re-using bits of old modems I made a container (the big red thing with white stripes)
Image
Image

And it fits onto the garage, with enough space left over for figs to move around
Image

I also bought a spaceship to use as a building

And all of the above, plus some assorted props :

After that I bought a box of Mantics' Deadzone scenery ...

A bit of scenery made from leftover pillars :

Unfortunately, this emptied out my wallet, so I started searching through my collection of scenery and found my old GWS Guard-Tower which served for my Nurgle Traitor Imperial Guard. It has now been cleaned of all Nurgly greenstuff and twin-linked Heavy Bolters, re-primed and repainted.

You can also see that I re-use model-train-trees as well tended shrubberies in plant-pots.

Next up, I found an old box with a Conflix chem-plant.

So I got creative with that one...

These come from the Deadzone accessories sprues

Joined, they can be a barricade

"Creative with junk"
Found these on the streets, no idea whatsoever what they are or what their purpose used to be...
Image
Add 2 40K vehicle bits per "thing"...
Image
And add paint :

"Creative with junk. The Sequel"
I had this one lying around :an old wireless Modem to surf over a cellular EDGE/3G network, rendered completely, utterly and totally obsolete by the current generation of smartphones
Image
Add one 40K vehicle bit + some cardboard
Image
Add paint and perform some google-image-search-fu ...

All of the new pieces together...

And some more battlefield "rubble"

A second radar :
Image

I've been searching for cheap wireless modems to turn into billboards, but all I've found up until now is this one, another shape, but it doesn't look remotely as good as the previous one...
Image
Image
Image

I bought some screws, and they came in a very nice box (idea inspired by a fellow club-member)

With some added warning-signs :

And with some Infinity figs for size comparison :

A while later I scored another wireless modem to turn into a billboard, and I transformed some sports-beverage-plastic-bottlecaps into a couple of big plant-pots:

Together with the billboards and plants I did earlier, and some Infinity Haqqislam soldiers for size-reference :

And if you want to know what all of that terrain looks like on a battlefield, I kindly refer you to Dieldiens' post on the Infinity tournament in Ghent

Cheers for having had the patience to read through this whole thread ;)

Do note, all graffiti and billboards are not hand-painted by me; it's the result of google-image-search-fu combined with scissors-fun and PVA.

All the tags (in black) are mine though, except the ones included on the MAS-transfers

Great thread! I look forward to see what else you churn out. Lots of graffiti! Just printed and glued?

Thanks!

Next up, probably some more shrubberies in plant-pots, and I recently bought another of Mantics' buildings...

And indeed, printed, cut out with scissors and glued with watered-down PVA.
Most of it anyway, there are also some waterslide-transfers from Micro Art Studios mixed in here and there.

Just take care to print on low quality, thin paper. If the paper is too thick, it'll show more easily what you did.
Quite time-consuming I might add, since graffiti has everything but straight lines.

I'm sending my ISS troops to apprehend the punks who deface the buildings with those graffitis!

Great job! Will you make a picture of the table with the elements?

Excellent! I have a soft spot for MacGyvered stuff, so this has been most pleasing. And it's amazing how some simple "graffiti" can give lots of personality to buildings.

For alternatives to the wireless modems since you seem to have trouble finding more, maybe people will have around some very old USB keys (those with a whooping 256Mb of space :D ), maybe those will help. Also somebody in the official forums was experimenting with those slideshow keychains, those make decent "video billboards", with actual working displays (only static images, but that's what you get with those cheapo thingies).

Good luck and i look forward to see more interesting stuff in the future :D

Love the graffiti, really makes the place look lived in and run down.

Though I didn't see much graffiti while I was in Japan, I also wasn't wandering in the worst parts of town (just Shinjuku and Roppongi!)

And there is no doubt in my mind that in the timeline of Infinity, there will STILL be Eva crap getting put out, 200+ years after the original release...

Thanks for the nice comments guys!

Slideshow keychains eh? I will have to look into that. Thanks for the tip.

And thanks Section9, it is indeed from Spartan Games.

If you're feeling really brave, there are some build pictures of someone who made the Off-World advertising blimp, complete with lights, working video screens, and sound lurking on the internet. http://www.modelermagic.com/?p=41246 for ideas

And thanks Section9, it is indeed from Spartan Games.

No problem.

I've been looking over and over again at that blimp, but the more I look at it, the more I don't see myself making that! Seems a wee bit too complicated for my skills at the moment...

In the meantime, I'm busy with some more shrubberies in plantpots, so i decided to do a WIP-piccie showing the three stages of making one...

On the left you have got the sports-drink-cap, glued together with PVA and glued onto a standard 20mm base. In the middle, paint-in progress. On the right, after painting is finished, I fill the cap up with milliput and push the railroad-tree in there
Image

I'm a wee bit short on the trees at the moment, hopefully I'll be able to stop by the train-moddelling shop over the weekend... I've got 6 new pots in the process of being painted up.

Well, that took me a couple more weekend than foreseen. Real life, why botherst thou me so?

In any case, the finished pots :
Image
And I think I'll be stopping making shrubberies for my Infinity terrain now... Plenty of green to go around.

Also, I found this @ an abandoned desk at work. A small inquiry later 'naaah, he doesn't work for our company anymore. Sure you can have it!'
Image
The same evening, at home, I cut off the wires and added a couple of 40K vehicle bits...
Image
Some paint and google-image-searching later for sci-fi interfaces...
Image
Image

Onwards and forwards! Got me a Mantic building to remove from sprues, assemble, prime and paint

Finally pushed myself to process the Mantic box I bought @ a convention..

after quite some try-outs, planning, scrapping the planning and restarting, I decided to stick with two buildings.

First off a Sniper-nest :
Image

And the rest of the box was assembled in a big, los-blocking mastodont to break up the board somewhat with limited cover on the roof...

The subject of my clubs' quarterly painting competition is 'futuristic plants'

So I made this little mini-plantation/alien plant quarantine :

Quase's terrain is really super. I had the chance to see it 'in the flesh' and it's even better than what you see in the pictures.

Thanks! Though I must say I really like your terrain too. It was a joy playing on it (and I'm not just saying that because I had a severe case of beginners' luck)

Love your terrain pieces and especially the amount of graffitis. I prefer the ones where you can´t see that they are glued on, like when a whole wall element is covered.

Totally agree, the graffiti makes the terrain!
