Just a quick thread to keep your all informed of what one of our fine terrain manufacturers in Australia is doing.
About Us:CNC Workshop is a subsidiary of A.S.C.I.I. Systems Pty. Ltd. located in Victoria, Australia.
We aim to provide you with a product and service that is of an excellent standard, at a very affordable price. We are able to achieve this by utilizing our in-house expertise in automation, software, electrical & mechanical engineering combined with graphic design to create a highly integrated system of manufacture that allows for lower overheads and labour costs.
CNC Workshop: Miniature Scenery thanks in part to one
particular designer has being updating their product range quite allot to include a range of
Sci-Fi Range of products that are very much tailored towards games like Infinity. Most of you would have seen their older CNC Router cut products and have seen their redeveloped and re-imagined buildings and the like which are now cut with a CNC Lazer Cutter.
However you might not have seen these yet; nor know they are available for order!

I'll be ordering the bottom product either from my LFGS or straight from CNC Workshop as soon as I have some free funds. My mate chopper is frothing at the mouth for the police/military vehicles though.

Was there any talk of getting a US distributor or making any deals on shipping?
Otherwise fantastic stuff! I like the variant Heavy Forklift with the radial engine, any good rear shots of it?

They used to be stocked in US brick and mortar stores to my knowledge.
I'm not associated or a representative of them though so I'm really not sure. I suggest you
contact them directly.

I ordered a batch of their stuff and have assembled some of it already. Must say I'm really impressed, especially with the extra widgets they provide (I even bought an extra pack of them) and that can be added to the likes of Bandua buildings to just add that extra visual interest.

Yep, this looks pretty damned fantastic.
I have bought stuff in the past from these guys and have been impressed with all of it. While s&h seems a little high, once I am holding the product and feel the weight I have no problems.
My bank account is going to be in pain when this stuff comes out.

Find me a job there and we'll talk!
Did you all see that those panels are not just a flat sheet?

I know what I'm ordering if/when I hit the lottery!

You mean, the 'Australia Tax?'

The "oz tax" is GW's thing. Charging us +100% because they can.
The ToD tax is the freight costs from anywhere else to here. Which generally makes buying stuff from the US cost twice as much (or Europe). It's fair that it flows both ways, though.
We don't actually pay that much more for Infinity stuff (proportionally speaking) compared to what the rest of the world pays for it. Unlike the GW stuff.

It's a nice board (that's the painted prototype) but I'd be looking at 8-900 AUD to get that sort of table going and that just isn't a viable issue for me.
I've got some of their newer buildings and I do like those, though.

Can one of your Aussies suggest CNC find themselves an American distributor or an American/Canadian trading partner?
The Trading Partner would be a US-based laser-cutter that would enter into a reciprocal license with CNC. The Trading Partner would have permission to sell CNC's stuff (as adjusted for what's available in the local MDF/plywood market), and CNC would have permission to sell the Trading Partner's stuff (as adjusted for what's available in the Oz MDF/ply market). Might have better luck as far as common thicknesses goes in Canada, actually, since Canuckistan is metric.
If only I had some skill with AutoCAD or whatever, I'd launch a laser-cutter business of my own!

Well, as far as manufacturers go, we have ONE company that makes ALL the MDF here - so we don't get state/regional variations because of differing "standards". This means ALL of our terrain mobs will use stuff of the same thicknesses because no matter what state they are in, it's all the same stuff.

Yeah, but I bet that one maker in all of Aus doesn't ship MDF to the US... Or are you in the US?
And the US is still stuck in Imperial units with different tolerances than the Oz MDF maker, so getting a manufacturing partner here in the US would require some adjustments to the edges and tabs.
