Hi all,

I finally started to paint some miniatures.
Keep in mind that I'm a beginner.

The bases are temporary. I know there are still some fixes to do and some details I have yet to do.
With that in mind I'm almost happy with it XD

Some close-ups here.

Think I need to do a weapon swap for the Nisse, give him a bigger gun. Then I will call him Briareos. :P

I think your paint job looks really good.

They look good - if you get some of the fancy bases from MAS, Warsenal, Secret Weapon, Dragon Forge, Basiks, or even Scribor that would top them off. If you ever get the Nomads from the set done please post them - for a beginer as said before, looking good.

It's hard to see from the pic the details but they look really good. You seem to have a good concept of highlighting and shading. Nice work.

I'm waiting for some Omega Prime bases from Dragon Forge for the PanO guys. They just haven't arrived yet. Nomads are on warsen.al tunguskan bases.

So, I tried to get the Nomads to a state I can use them in a game tomorrow. Maybe a bit ambitious - I had two evenings of painting the assembled and primed minis. I had no time for fixes, skin and hair didnt turn out as I hoped.

I had a really hard time with liquid mask - especially painting it on precisely. But dipping and washing the brush in very soapy water helped tremendously - my last experience was painting with a rubber stick and throwing back the ruined brush afterwards.

So, I'm posting some pics now, but I see them myself as WIP. More pictures at my blog here. Pictures also didnt come out as well as I hoped, but I wanted to save the time to set up the tripod, so I had use a smaller aperture - less depth of sharpness/field.

Did something weird happen on your faces? The eyes shouldn't be light like that, they should be darker than the surrounding skin. A bit of a red-brown wash (like the old Ogryn Flesh wash or Army Painter Soft Tone) mixed with glaze medium should sort that out pretty quick. Most of the minis are not dark skinned enough that you absolutely NEED to paint the eyes. You still can if you want to, but it's not necessary.

However, the left-handed Aggie is dark-skinned enough where you really do need to paint his eyes.

I'd also recommend REDUCING the contrast between the darkest shadows of the skin on the two ladies, most women have much less range between the lightest and darkest tones of their skin. Take a look at this awesome CMON article for skin tone ideas.

Thanks for the advice. Something weird sums it up well - I didn't even tried to paint eyes.

Wow, how many time you spent to paint those minis? you work so fast!! I like more the pano team than nomad, maybe the nomad oficial color is one of the most painfull to achieve, black and red... it is important to make a good ligtning in the black colors, if not, the model looks like just primed! And for the reds, i heard, the pure read it is your max. light, then, you have to go adding shadows from there.

Good job man!!!

Thanks.

I guess I spent 3 evenings on the PanO and just two on the Nomads. I should go back to the nomads ...

I'm fast because I'm terribly impatient and prefer to start 10 things than finish 1. If I take to long for one project it'll never get finished. :-D

Yeah nomad colors are difficult. :-/

So. Escalation league gets motivates me do drop some color on some minis again. Time to ruin my jsa.

I have to get cleaner but as said before I prefer to be fast and finish something than to loose interest in the model.

So totally not what I want to accomplish but for this time I'm okay with it. Most important to me was to start the league all painted and on arm
length they look quite fine I think.

Do you rinse your brush in the same water you use after painting metallics?

No. I already learned that I have to use separate water. I assume you see those tiny spots/flakes ... That is spray dust. Varnished minis standing to close to me
Spray painting terrain :-(

You got a nice tabletop standard going, but you really need to clean up those bases. Paint the rim black and you'll get an overall cleaner look.

I'm really looking forward to getting my teeth kicked in by your guys in the escalation league - but even more so to see some of that lovely terrain up close. :)

Very cool raidens. And I agree with Kenza, the bases make them look unfinished.

I agree with you guys in the bases too. Second picture of Neko shows finished base. Red dot will be replaced with Rising Sun Decals when I find my decal paper.

I'm impressed! That camouflage pattern looks great, CIF! I'd say you've been improving!
