Entries 2016 Q3 [Data-Sphere Painting Campaign]

The goal of this campaign is to paint our models and show off our progress in an attempt to keep a steady and sustainable pace of painting.
Participants (and observers) are encouraged to share Work In Progress (WIP) pictures and divulge their techniques and recipes for their works.
High amounts of detail and creativity are encouraged, but not required for participation.

To enter:
Post in the season's thread with your entry. Both an unpainted (with a timestamp) and finished picture of the entry. (limit 4 finished pictures)

That's it! If you have any questions, just ask and I'll try to get back to you within a day or two.

At the end of each Season (this one ending on October 31st at 23:59:59 UTC), no more submissions will be accepted and the season's submissions will be compiled together. The following month, a poll thread will allow users to vote for which models they most like! There is no strict criteria on what you are casting your vote for! What this means is that users can vote on the "Most Improved", "Best Painted", "Most Interesting", "Most Ambitious", "Most Helpful", "Most Friendly", "Most Involved", "Most Funny", etc.! This form of voting doesn't prevent amateur or new painters from taking part. I know I'll always be voting for those that try their hardest. You'll also have multiple votes, so no worrying about which entries to pick! Votes are changeable at any time during the voting month. Voting for this season will end on November 30th at 23:59:59 UTC.

To vote:
View the appropriate thread for the Season that you wish to vote for.
View ALL entries for that month.
Select your vote(s) from the Poll in the thread.

You're done!

Prizes!
But wait! There's more!

For each season, there will be 3 winners that will be featured.
Each of the winners will get a digital badge to display proudly that shows their accomplishments.

Note to previous season winners: we're still working out the kinks on prize support and how to handle distribution. Sorry for the wait. We appreciate your understanding.

Best of luck!

If you have any questions, post 'em below and I'll respond in the thread.

So primed this lot last weekend for another painting challenge (hence the time stamp courtesy of a loaf of bread), and got the Stingrays finished today.
Copious use of Army painter coloured primers, in this case Wolf Grey, followed by a wash of Nuln Oil once the base colours were blocked in then retouched to make the colours "pop".

Mounted on Antinocities Workshop Tri-Hex resin bases and I used part of a set of Fenris Games Jersey Barriers in place of their respective scenic base elements.

Currently beginning to block in the base colours on the Haqqislam, including the Red Veil minis. Bit of luck they can be done next weekend.

Note: I would like to ask that you limit your submission count to 4 photos.

I'll amend the post.

No theme this time?

Someone suggested discarding themed contests in the thread CS started about continuing the contests.

Perhaps, for previous winners, offer them the option of 'converting' their prize to a digital badge. I would do that. (IIRC, I came in 2nd place once...)

I'm glad to see this campaign is well. Front graphic looks awesome. I wish you all the best and many miniatures painted throughout this season.

Not to discourage anyone, I would like to participate as a honourable member, rather than regular participant. Here's my entry :)

Dawfydd, looks fine to me. Note: my restriction on entry photos earlier. Let me know which photos you'd like to submit and we can finalize that entry.

Indeed, no theme! The whole goal of the campaign was to be as inclusive as possible and get models painted. Themes only get in the way of that!

Regarding past winners, yes, I will be working over the next few weeks to contact prior winners and see about distributing the winner badges that they should have access to.

Glad to see you again, Nazroth!

Oh sorry, the original "proof" photo isn't one of the 4. Would you like to submit another besides the 3 I grabbed?

Meant to post these last weekend when they were finished, but hey-ho.
Anyway, that's the Haqqislam portion of Red Veil, Taurik Mansuri, the Ghulam SWC box, a box of Muyibs and a few other sundry troops all done & dusted. Not perfect but for what amounted to two days work I'll settle for that ;)

Hey guys,

I was bussy with the Tohaa. Just two days ago I have crossed the point of half the collection being nearly done.

If anyone is interrested in this project - here is a WORK IN PROGRESS GALLERY

This is my best regular painting level and my customer decided to try it out with his entire Tohaa collection so I have a nice field to work on :)

Customer has deep pockets to afford that nice a paintjob on an entire faction! Then again, it's almost affordable on Tohaa. Not a bajillion SKUs of models like Yu Jing or others...

Do like!

Glad you like it.

Just as an anecdote: He was my first serious customer, the one to encourage me to actually leave my previous job and start living by the brush. Back then I have painted a test commission for him, then something bigget (an entire set of miniatures), he fell in love with my lvl 5 painting and promised to get back to me with an entire army one day - and here it is, approximately one year later 60 Tohaa miniatures are being painted for him. Where I am from this really is a lot of cash - like a LOT, so I do everything I can to make this guy happy. Not to mention the fun from painting such awesome miniatures at such a level - I do like it, itmakes me feel great. Totally new experience :)

Will probably finish entire collection this month and publish a series of pictures here.

Had some crazy fine time with these - they've tested my skills and endurance, but in the end it was totally worth it :)

Guys, great jobs so far!

I'm so sorry about my lack of involvement right now. I'm going through a very emotional time right now and haven't had the heart to do much of anything outside of worrying about something. Anyway, it all culminated on Monday and I'm still an emotional wreck, but I thought y'all deserved some sort of correspondence from me.

So got these chaps finished off today, Yojimbo, Togen & Mushashi. Gotta admit, if I ever get around to playing JSA I never envisage a time where I DON'T field all three of these lads together....

Yeah, Darek's right with the lighting, but fantastic! If you could please select a handful (up to 4) images to represent your work, I'd be very appreciative. Sorry for the shakeup, but I'm trying to make this a little more manageable so I can keep it going.

Guys, with only two entries, I'm going to have to alter the rules a bit, in the hopes of increased participation.

As such, I'll be extending this "quarter's" entry period to last until the end of the year.

If those of you keeping up wouldn't mind aassisting in getting this off the ground, I'd greatly appreciate if you'd help get the word out and tell your friends and fellow players about this campaign!

So I primed up this lot but hadn't planned to get them done before the end of October so no date stamp I'm afraid. Seeing as we've now got to the end of the year though I'm aiming high to get them all done :)
