Advice needed: pinning REMs

So, the next batch of miniatures on my workbench are 3 Nomad attack REMs (Tsyklons & Lunokhod, the share the same leg design).

As I'm using MAS reisin mases, I need to attach these legs to bases. With typical models, I cut underfoot tabs into pegs and drill suitable holes in the base. Here, no tabs - and the legs tend to end in pretty fine points - not much surface for me to actually drill a pin hole (I'm a bit too clumsy to work with a 1mm or 0,7mm drill bit there!).

I need suggestions on how to attach these mdoels to bases...

So far, my idea was to use the endpoints of a drone's legs as pegs....

I just got my Armbots and what I plan on doing with them is a central pin up through the piece that all the legs connect to, going up through into the body. Then I'm going to paint the pin black, the color of the bases I use, and pin that through the base. This will hopefully hide it for the most part, and provide a sturdy piece to cling to where it matters, at least in my mind. You could try something similar for your guys as their under-slung weapons and low stance should similarly hide most of a pin like that.

What style bases do you use? If you're a capable modeller you could alter the model/base you use to allow the REM to be putting it's foot through something giving you a more solid option.

I just filed the feet flat, there's surprisingly a lot of contact area there.

MAS reisins, for my Nomads it is the Warehouse style.

You really only need one or two legs attached.

I'd file a small flat spot on the end of a leg, prick the center with a pin, and the use your small bit (using the pin prick as a pilot hole) to drill a hole.

You're not as clumsy as you think you are.

Oh, I was doing break&reposition&pin&file&pin on these type of legs before (making my Kameels and older Lunokhod fit 40mm bases back in 2ed), but I wanted to avoid unnecessary fuss this time :P

And with the old legs, I find that they stick just fine to Aciti resin bases with a bit of filing on the feet.

No pinning required, except maybe between the legs and the body of the drone.

That I do, too.
