Oh my god. I love that blue you've done there, Hiso.

Unfortunately, with prizes on the line, I cannot allow that Joan entry unless I see a timestamped "before" photo. I'm really very sorry! Please do continue that work and show us some progress pictures though! It's beautiful! Such a vibrant blue, but with a lot of depth! Oh, I'm in love with that blue!

If you don't mind my asking (after I just turned you down, again sorry!), what colors did you use to get that? Airbrush, I assume. What thinner do you use?

That is going to be cool. The electric Slimer green will be pretty unique. What color do you think you'll do the cloth and eyes/servo-muscles to contrast/complement it?

The cloth portion is going to be black/I am waiting on silly putty to use as a mask for airbrushing that portion.

I am undecided on how to color the cables and fiber bundles.

The face plate will be an ivory highlighted up to white and most likely bright yellow glow effect.

The weapons are also up in the air right now.. this is my test model for the whole scheme for my JSA army, so I am taking it slow.... plenty of areas still need attention due to my sloppy brush/paint control while doing the black areas.

@dlfleetw: If you are taking suggestions on the light/tech/eyes, I think magenta would be a slick complementary color, especially on the eyes and lights. A pale blue would also look nice. However, on the muscle-servos, it might be good to mute those with a steel/grey color. The effect will be like a flip on some of the normal paint schemes, that is, duller armor with brighter servos.

I like the Adobe Kuler site for getting ideas on what might work together: color.adobe.com

I am thinking the Magenta may work, I may have a stash of old Citadel magenta ink just for this.

For the bundles, I was looking at doing an underpainting where I use a mid tone gray then wash/glaze in blue/black then highlight up using whites and then thin additions of blue/turquoise (P3 Arcane blue maybe?)

'Ere, are newbies allowed to enter? If so, since I've not had a chance to check out them rule thingies in detail yet, what in the Operation Ice Storm box counts as an 'eavy foot slogger?

"newbies" are certainly allowed! There's no restriction on who can enter, only on what can enter! To answer your question regarding which models:

PanOceania ORC Trooper
PanOceania Father-Knight
Nomad Mobile Brigada

I simply follow the angel giraldez book.

I use Vallejo paint, blue, sky blue & white. My thinner is 50/50 deionized water and liquid for wash windows (i don't know the translation, sorry ^^)

And now, the finish one:

So. I am always up for a challenge. But when I read about this here, I thought "I play nomads, how much HI do I have? The one Mobile Brigada I need, I do have. And I am not in to Bakunin (yet)..."

Well, how wrong can you be?

Anyhow, here is my hat for this ring.

No, painted with my very bestest best brush ;)
Totally not a splayed paint brush at all.
Although it looks like hiso has achieved a much better result on his Jeanne d'Arc than i'll get on my HI following Angel's technique.

@Hydra those are very nice conversions. Looking forward to seeing those painted.

So... I'm unsure how I want to rule this so I'm opening it up to the participants.

Hiso is unable to provide a timestamped photo of the unpainted Joan. That said, he has a dated receipt for the book (and miniature). Would anyone be opposed to this counting as his entry? If no one has any issue, then I will allow it.

Holy crap, guys, are you kidding me? First there's that awesome mini diorama of Tariq, then Splayed does some excellent blending with his mad brush skills and now Hydra joins enters the ring with 4(!!!) converted HI? I'm so screwed. :D

Seriously guys, you are putting out some great and fun competition stuff here. Can't wait to see the final results.

I'm gonna deliver some more pics and a new blogpost for my ABH tomorrow. I'm pumped, guys. Thanks for that! :D

More progress of the 5th Ninja Turtle.

Phone pictures are giving off some glare on the pants and the highlights on the fiber bundles are pretty flat (probably need to go up to pure white, stopped at a mix of VMC Ivory and P3 Underbelly)

Happy with the basic magenta glow coming from the eyes.

Sword will be magenta, undecided on the Blitzen/Contender.

Probably one or two rounds of edge highlights for the armor in various places to go.
